Course Overview

As organisations grow and centralise core functions, the ability to effectively manage intra-group service flows become essential. For the modern enterprise, these arrangements are more than just a fiscal requirement; they are the connective tissue of a global operating model. This program provides a comprehensive look at how companies can structure their management support services to reflect true commercial value. We will explore the evolving expectations of tax authorities, focusing on how to build a robust, transparent framework that aligns with international best practices.

Managing intra-group services is a cross-functional responsibility. By integrating transfer pricing principles into daily operations, business leaders can ensure clear visibility into how global costs support local growth, establishing “best-inclass” documentation to substantiate the service charges and ensuring that centralised functions are allocated in a way that reflects their actual business utility.

Key Topics Covered
  • Principles of Service-Based Transfer Pricing: Understanding the “arm’s length” standard in a commercial context.
  • Demonstrating value – the “Benefit Test”: Identifying the commercial utility of shared services for local entities, and distinguishing between value-adding support and broader stewardship activities.
  • Methodologies for fair allocation: Developing objective “allocation keys” that reflect business reality.
  • Formulating appropriate pricing policies: Moving beyond the default "cost-plus" model. Understanding why a standard mark-up may not be suitable for every service arrangement, and how to identify and correctly treat "passthrough" costs.
  • Operationalising compliance and documentation: Practical approaches to maintaining contemporary records that demonstrate operational substance.
  • Navigating the tax landscape: Insights on audit trends and focus areas relating to intra-group services, reviewing case studies and proactive risk management and effective dispute prevention.
