BDO conducts workshop on family business
Next month BDO Singapore will be conducting a workshop on Family business with the Singapore Business Federation, aimed mainly at family-owned enterprises.
An old Chinese saying goes that the wealth of a family is not likely to last more than three generations. Evidence from worldwide business bureau statistics shows that this is mostly true and that it’s not uncommon for family-run businesses to start floundering when transitioning to the third or fourth generation. Part of the difficulty stems from a 'monarchical' business framework, where passing the reins of ownership and management is based on bloodline rather than merit.
