BDO International
is a world wide network of public accounting firms, called BDO Member
Firms, serving international clients. Each BDO Member Firm is an
independent legal entity in its own country.
Background
The BDO International network was founded in Europe in 1963 when forward-thinking accountancy firms from the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, USA and Canada joined to form the Binder Seidman International Group. Ten years later, the European member firms took on the common name of Binder Dijker Otte & Co - BDO.
The current world wide structure of the network
was put in place in 1988, including the use of the BDO acronym before
Member Firms names, and the implementation of the BDO logo and corporate
identity.
BDO continues to expand, and currently has 626 offices in 111 countries worldwide.
Market position
BDO Member Firms serve growth-orientated,
owner-managed businesses with expanding international requirements,
governments, institutions and non-profit organisations. Additionally
and increasingly, BDO is winning assignments with prestigious, multinational
clients and the larger privately owned companies.
BDO International delivers all the flexibility,
specialist expertise, closeness and personal service of a local
firm, together with all the capabilities, network and strength of
the large scale, global players. It aims to transcend the market,
offering the best of both worlds.
BDO Member Firms can deliver on this unique
perspective because their people have a natural affinity for client
rapport, and the network has also put in place the tools and processes
required to build a culture of internal partnering for mutual success.
Income
Global fee income of all BDO Member Firms for the year ending 30 September 2007 totaled US$ 4,703.8 million - a 20% increase on 2006 which was US$ 3,911.9 million.
